Mimosa tree aggressive invader in disguise

With the onset of summer, many trees and plants have already bloomed and are settling into the green background. An exception are the Mimosa trees, Albizia julibrissin, which are blooming profusely.
These once popular small trees are commonly found in the yards of older homes in Santa Rosa County where the display of prolific pink blooms starts up as the weather warms.

The Florida Department of Education on Tuesday released a report showing that 54 percent of third-grade students this year scored “satisfactory” or above on the state English-language arts exam. Here are percentages of students in each county that scored “satisfactory” or above:
— St. Johns: 78 percent
— Baker: 68 percent

Holidu, the search engine for vacation rentals, has released a list of the top must-visit beaches in Florida this summer. Not surprisingly, Navarre was on this list.
All of the top beaches were located along the Gulf of Mexico, with five of Florida’s state parks making the list, too.
