The organization that represents Florida school boards has “great concern” for the safety of board members and school officials after recent reports of threats, but is rejecting its national counterpart’s request that the federal government step in.

A 24-year-old Gulf Breeze man was killed early Friday morning by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene. The accident happened at 4:22 a.m. on East Bay Boulevard near Zilla Street. The young man was in the road when he was struck and killed. Anyone with information about this crash is being asked to dial *FHP on a cell phone.
