39 years of students reunite to honor Gulf Breeze High drama teacher

After 39 years dedicated to teaching and, 37 of those years spent pioneering the Gulf Breeze High School (GBHS) drama department, Margie Timmons retired from her fulfilling career.

Students from current and years past came together June 27 to surprise Timmons with an evening of performances at the Saenger Theatre in her honor. Actors and actresses, all at some point under the direction of Timmons, performed songs and scenes from old plays they had put on and took Timmons on a trip down memory lane, leaving her with tears in her eyes.

Competitor moves into south Santa Rosa County, offers twice-a-week trash pickup

Adams Sanitation, which has 9,000 customers in the north end of Santa Rosa County, has submitted a permit to provide garbage pickup in the south end of the county.

The permit, filed Wednesday, was submitted with a letter challenging the county’s “exclusive franchise” agreement with Waste Pro. According to the letter, written by Adams’ legal representative Nathan Boyles, the ordinance assuring franchise exclusivity was adopted by the county June 9, 2011.

On the morning of June 12, a crowd of over 350 race participants, supporters and sponsors gathered in the hall at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze, the rallying point for the 10th annual Flag Day Run/Walk sponsored by the St. Sylvester Columbiettes and the Knights of Columbus.
