Ida impacts close local schools

Schools will be closed Monday in Santa Rosa and Okaloosa county due to “widespread lingering” impacts from Hurricane Ida. The closure affects all extracurricular activities. The area is at continued risk due to high wind gusts, tornadoes and significant flooding rain. The decision was made in conjunction with the National Weather Service in Mobile.

Motorcyclist killed running into back of tow truck

A 33-year-old Pensacola man was killed early Friday afternoon after his motorcycle struck the back of a tow truck turning into a private driveway on U.S. Highway 90. The driver of the tow truck, a 28-year-old Pace man, was uninjured in the 12:30 p.m. accident.
