A familiar place to play and gather in Gulf Breeze will soon reopen to the public. Swenson Park, located at 1076 Circle Lane, has been under renovation since the notice to proceed with construction was given Jan. 23, 2023.

Fall is officially here, although the 87-degree temperatures don’t convince me. The mornings are a little cooler, but when you are still in the upper 80s during the day, we will just keep waiting for the temperatures to catch up with the months they are supposed to be in.

Coffee chain planned for Navarre Parkway

Coffee lovers are in luck. According to county records, Navarre will soon be getting a new coffee shop along Navarre Parkway.

Scooter’s Coffee, a restaurant chain of coffee shops, is looking to open a new location at the 8700 block of Navarre Parkway near Slippery Mermaid. The company was founded in Nebraska in 1998.

Culture of winning continues for Navarre’s volleyball team

Navarre’s volleyball team is on its way to its 11th win of the season on this night in the middle of September, and the Raiders do get it, sweeping the Crusaders in three sets.

The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners voted 4-1 at its special budget meeting Tuesday, Sept. 19, not to act on impact fees until at least October 2024.
Commissioner Sam Parker suggested the moratorium; he said construction costs already are too high and the economy “is becoming a wreck.”

County holds millage steady, approves $251.3 million budget

The Santa Rosa County Commission unanimously approved keeping the 2024 millage rate at 6.0953 at its special budget meeting Tuesday, Sept. 19, which will generate about $98.4 million in property tax revenue. Commissioners also unanimously adopted a total budget of $251,355,646 for the budget year beginning Oct. 1.
