Museum savors memories of trains gone by

UPDATED: Teen failed to see dump truck, pulled out in front of it

A 17-year-old Gulf Breeze teen has been cited for a Tuesday morning accident that tied up traffic on U.S. Highway 98 in the Tiger Point area.

The boy turned right from Central Parkway onto the highway, failing to notice a loaded dump truck in that lane. The truck driver, a 47-year-old man from Milton, tried to avoid hitting the teen’s vehicle, but struck the car anyway before overturning.

Panhandle Wildlife challenges rehabilitator

Under tall trees shading the yard behind Anna and Roger Hackney’s Navarre home, a hawk with lemon yellow legs hops around his enclosure.

The red-shouldered hawk came to Sandspur Wildlife Sanctuary recently after spending three days beating his head against a chicken coop trying to get a free meal.
