For God’s Sake: The COMPASS core value statement champions ‘grace giving’

“All you preachers ever talk about is money,” a man complained having just sat through my once-a-year sermon on giving.

Clearly, giving was a sensitive subject for that man, as it is for many. It seems that all the preaching on giving, including the televangelists’ shameless shakedowns, is balled together and attributed to every preacher.

The proposed Fiscal Year 2023 budget for Santa Rosa County includes a record investment in capital projects, thanks partly to federal stimulus spending and higher property values.

Coastal areas from Mobile to Destin felt the brunt of Ivan’s wrath; aerial photographs taken days after the storm showed much smaller barrier islands (including Santa Rosa Island, which lost virtually all of its dunes and beaches).

Lessons learned in Raider volleyball team’s road loss to Washington

Navarre volleyball coach Ryan Davenport walked along the sideline and rubbed his forehead as the Raiders fell further behind Washington in the third set of last Thursday night’s match in Pensacola. The look of frustration on his face said it all.

This was one of those nights where the Raiders battled the Wildcats tough in three close games but couldn’t make enough plays to put themselves over the top in a 24-26, 25-27, 18-25 loss.
