Hester rises to occasion in first season with Flagler

Up against one of the nation’s best teams and barely a month into her freshman season at Flagler, Rachel Hester rose to the occasion in a big moment.

Rather than cave under the weight of trying to hold down a 3-1 lead against third-ranked Valdosta State, Hester cooled off the Blazers, holding them scoreless over the final three innings while striking out two to earn a big save.

Holley-Navarre Water System is planning to build a pump station and elevated water tank on property it will lease from Elevate Navarre at the intersection of State Road 87 and U.S. Highway 98, engineer Phil Phillips said Tuesday at the water board’s meeting at the Club at Hidden Creek.

That check-in process ends up taking a while. After all, more than 100 young athletes are here at the NYSA Soccer Complex this week. The 131-player total is the largest ever.

A lot of people point to how important the rules are until those rules are no longer important because they aren’t convenient.

If the FHSAA is going to have a rule that a player ejected from a game must sit out at least the next two, then there shouldn’t be any doorway that can be opened to change it.
