On Feb. 10, ceramicists, pottery enthusiasts and community members will gather at Holley Hill Pottery for the 19th edition of Woodstoke Festival. The festival, named in homage to Woodstock, is organized by Brenda Stokes of Holley Hill Pottery and the Gulf Coast Kiln Walk Society.

Taylor Armstead missed some games this season because of an injury. When she finally returned to the field, it was a slow process to get back into her groove as a scoring threat for the Navarre Raiders.

She admits, it wasn’t easy, and yet, those moments of frustration faded away on a chilly evening at the Ashton Brosnaham Complex in Pensacola as the junior standout scored a crucial goal in a tightly contested District 1-6A championship game against rival Pace.

A crowd of around 30 people gathered at the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center Friday, Jan. 25 for the unveiling of a mural designed specifically with the Center in mind. The unveiling also doubled as a ribbon cutting for the business which made the mural.

Nayeli Brambila had cut Navarre’s deficit to six points early in the fourth quarter Monday night and gave Navarre’s girls basketball a ray of hope that a comeback win over Central was possible.

But back-to-back 3-pointers from the Jaguars dashed that hope as the Raiders suffered another tough loss in what has been a difficult season.

This year, the group ventured to Allentown to announce Christal Bennett, Central School’s band teacher, as the district’s best.

A former motorcycle clubhouse on East Bay Blvd. is getting a facelift ahead of two businesses moving in.

In November, Sunscape Investments LLC purchased 8195 East Bay Blvd. from Anthony Weathers for $395,000. Chris Marsh, the registered agent for LLC, said they have been hard at work over the past few months getting the building ready for business.

Infrastructure, recreation among Eddington’s top priorities in 2024

Everyone seems to have New Year’s resolutions, even elected officials.

Santa Rosa County Commissioner Ray Eddington, who represents district four which includes Holley and Navarre, said he is looking forward to 2024 as an important year for expanding and improving south Santa Rosa County’s infrastructure, as well as its recreational opportunities. 

“We’re looking (forward) to a good year,” Eddington said.

Raider rally attempt falls short against Bulldogs

Navarre’s boys basketball team kept it close against Crestview last Thursday night on the road.

The Raiders were within seven with just under five minutes to play in the game but couldn’t put together a rally, falling 75-61 to the Bulldogs.
