Basketball practice looks a little different this year for the girls team at Navarre.

For the first time in quite some time Rachel Leggett is no longer on the team. One of the area’s best players during her career with the Raiders, Leggett has moved on to play college ball at South Alabama.

Bringing in the dough: What makes a good pizza?

It isn’t a farfetched presumption that nearly everyone reading this has eaten pizza. The food with strong Italian roots has taken over.

You can find it in a restaurant or convenience store on almost any street in America, and in some places, like New York City, it’s a way of life.

At Arc Gateway, opportunities and connections abound

When people hear about those with developmental or intellectual disabilities, they typically don’t think of them helping others. It’s those who have disabilities that need the help, right?

If you visit Beehive Homes Assisted Living on a Monday morning, you will find out that isn’t always the case. For four weeks, the clients of Arc Gateway, an organization which provides services to developmentally disabled people, have been visiting the assisted living facility to help be a light in the lives of residents.

Out and About

I’m on the road a lot between the Milton, Crestview and Navarre offices and I love listening to Podcasts.

I should be able write off my car as a rolling university, but I’m sure the IRS wouldn’t go for that. I recently listened to Chris Wark of ChrisBeatsCancer.com on a podcast that caught my attention because I thought it was about Breast Cancer awareness month.

With song, ‘Pills,’ local country singer looks to inspire change

Music can have an enormous impact.

Songs can raise awareness of an issue such as Creedence Clearwater Revival’s anti-war anthem “Fortunate Son,” reflect an evolving society such as Bob Dylan’s “Times They Are A-Changin,” raise money for a worthy cause like Live Aid in 1985, and some music can inspire people on a personal level.

Titus Perea gives triathlon a shot

Titus Perea plays basketball and runs cross-country and track. He’s pretty good at those sports. Turns out, he’s not bad at competing in triathlons either.

The 9-year-old Coastline Calvary Christian student did his first one earlier this month on Navarre Beach, completing the Zarzaur Law Sea Turtle Youth Triathlon in under 20 minutes.

Local entrepreneur brings new soda to ‘Pensa-Cola’

About 6 years ago, local musician and entrepreneur Jonathan Ivey had an epiphany idea for a play on words product for northwest Florida.

This October, his dream became a reality when he launched his own orange-lavender-flavored soda called Pensa-Cola.

Local pharmacies look to adjust to losing Tricare patients

Its no secret the US military is heavily involved in Northwest Florida. Many Active duty, as well as retired, airmen and sailors call the region home.

With all these service members living in one area, it means local businesses do what they can to have them as customers. For local pharmacies, this means working directly with military affiliated services and programs.
