“I took this photo of my children on the Blackwater River last weekend. Red flags were flying on the beach so we decided to venture out there,” she said. “The water was cold but so refreshing! Great family memory.”

Always something to see, do on Navarre Beach Fishing Pier

Nearly an hour before the sun rose on the Friday morning of a busy Memorial Day weekend, Tanner Haynes was on the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier hoping to catch something. But as the hours passed since his 5 a.m. start time, nearly six in all, the odds of a catch seemed stacked against him.

That is until he finally got a bite on his line and was able to reel it in fairly easily. His catch on this day was a mahi mahi.

‘We took a step forward this week’

Strides were made by Navarre’s football team during its Maroon and White Scrimmage Friday night at Bennett C Russell Stadium.

The Raiders showed signs of promise on both sides of the ball during their final scrimmage of the spring while building a little momentum heading into next week’s spring game against Milton.

After 8 months and 12 days, bridge traffic flows again

At 5:45 a.m. Friday, May 28 Santa Rosa Commission Chair Dave Piech got a call with the news everyone has been waiting to hear for more than eight months.

“Chairman, I just wanted to let you know that we are 15 minutes from flowing traffic on the bridge,” Carter Johnson, government affairs liaison with the Florida Department of Transportation.

Pensacola Bay Bridge is open again

The Pensacola Bay Bridge quietly reopened early Friday morning with no ribbon-cutting, fanfare or official advance announcement. It has been closed since it was damaged by a barge Sept. 16 that broke loose during Hurricane Sally.

Construction on the bridge continues, but two lanes are open from end to end.

Disney expects full Florida theme parks by year end

Walt Disney World could approach full capacity by the end of the year, Walt Disney Company CEO Robert Chapek said during the JPMorgan 49th Annual Global Technology, Media and Communications Conference on Monday. Chapek said his team anticipates “low double-digit growth” as the company follows federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention coronavirus operating guidelines, according to a transcript of the conference.
