On Mar. 28, Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 1557 also known as the Parental Rights in Education Bill. The bill, which has garnered controversy, requires district school boards to comply with provisions of law for notifying student’s parents of specified information. According to the description on the Florida Senate website, the bill also prohibits classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in grade levels Kindergarten through third and authorizes parents to bring legal action against school districts.

Santa Rosa County is doing comparatively well in its unemployment rates. The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity released Florida’s unemployment rates for February 2022, including the state average and the numbers for each county.

The National Weather Service storm survey teams confirmed that two EF-1 tornadoes touched down in Santa Rosa County Mar. 31 during a regional tornado outbreak.

I also don’t ever remember a lot of talk about women’s college swimming this year, at least not until Lia Thomas came along and created controversy with her participation in an NCAA championship meet last month.

A year ago, Jessi Farrer was the younger pitcher on Navarre’s softball team, playing behind and learning from the now graduated Rachel Hester.

This season, Farrer, junior, is the veteran on the staff while Kayden Riddle, a freshman, is learning the game at this level the way Farrer once learned from Hester.

BREAKING: Missing Navarre woman’s body recovered in Alabama

The body of missing Navarre woman, Cassie Carli, has been recovered in St. Clair County, Alabama during the execution of a search warrant. She was found in a barn in a shallow grave according to Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson.
