Florida outpaces the nation adding jobs for 22 consecutive months

Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Florida businesses continue to have robust employment opportunities, a benefit of a competitive and energized workforce where employers have added jobs for 22 consecutive months. Florida’s economic indicators have continued a positive trajectory and are surpassing pre-pandemic rates.

DeSantis signs controversial ‘parent’s rights’ bill, draws ire, praise

On Mar. 28, Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 1557 also known as the Parental Rights in Education Bill. The bill, which has garnered controversy, requires district school boards to comply with provisions of law for notifying student’s parents of specified information. According to the description on the Florida Senate website, the bill also prohibits classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in grade levels Kindergarten through third and authorizes parents to bring legal action against school districts.

Unemployment numbers for February released

Santa Rosa County is doing comparatively well in its unemployment rates. The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity released Florida’s unemployment rates for February 2022, including the state average and the numbers for each county.

Farrer, Riddle anchor pitching staff of Raiders
