New jobless claims in Florida under 6,000

An estimated 5,654 new unemployment claims were filed in Florida during the week that ended Nov. 13, down from a revised count of 6,217 the prior week, according to a report issued Thursday by the U.S. Department of Labor.

New chairman, vice-chairman selected to lead county commissioners

The board elected District 2 Commissioner Bob Cole as chairman and District 3 Commissioner James Calkins as vice-chairman during the commission work session on Thursday.

Milton crash injures two

A two-car crash occurred just after 7 a.m. on County Road 184 (Berryhill Road) just west of Regina’s Way in Milton. According to a press release from Florida Highway Patrol, a sedan driven by a couple in their 70s with a nine-year-old passenger failed to navigate the roadway curve and crossed the center line.
