Florida to pause use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine

Gov. Ron DeSantis, who was recently vaccinated with the single-dose Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine, said Tuesday that Florida would halt the vaccine’s use following a recommendation from federal health authorities. DeSantis said he understood the need for caution because the vaccine was only approved for emergency use, but he added that he did not think Floridians need to worry.

Many inmates wary of vaccinations

A survey of 5,110 people incarcerated in prisons and jails in four states — including Florida — shows that more than 45 percent, or 2,318 people, would refuse COVID-19 vaccinations, according to a new “Morbidity and Mortality” report from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Another nearly 10 percent of people participating in the survey, or 498 people, said they would “hesitate to receive” vaccines while slightly more than 45 percent of the survey participants or, 2,294 people, said they would get the shots.

New Navarre ER to open this month, officials get sneak peek

Chamber members and local Navarre officials crowded the lobby of Navarre ER Thursday morning to welcome the long-awaited emergency room facility to the community.
