Navarre serves up big holiday happenings

The Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Christmas in the Park “Joy To The World!” will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Navarre Park at the foot of the Navarre Bridge.

Two Raiders compete in all-star volleyball match

Reese Carroll and Jaci Johnson represented Navarre in the Subway All-Star Volleyball Match last Tuesday night at the University of West Florida Fieldhouse in Pensacola.

The Raider teammates played on the East squad in a match featuring standout seniors from Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties.

Those are all great accolades and accomplishments, but sometimes in sports, what shows up on paper doesn’t matter once you take the field.

Birds able to mitigate effects of cold

The month of November has brought on decidedly cooler temperatures.

Admittedly these recent thermometer readings are not at the subfreezing point of latitudes further north, but there is enough of a drop to cause a change in wardrobe.

Local pastor attends conference in Nigeria

Pastor Austin Huggins, pastor of Christ Evangel Church (christevangel.org) in Milton was invited by Sovereign Grace Bible Church (SGBC) in Lagos, Nigeria to speak at a pastors’ conference in October.

The conference theme was “Suffering and the Sovereignty of God.”

Out and About

This weekend is the official start to Christmas in Navarre. Saturday morning there is a Jingle Bell Run/Walk that begins at 8 a.m. at the Navarre Fire Station – with a shortcut to Grandma’s house.

Where the goodies are. If you haven’t registered at this point – you might be out of luck for this year’s shirt, but a previous year’s shirt will be just as festive.

Incorporation WILL make life better in Navarre

As I pondered a letter written by a local gentleman who states that Incorporation of Navarre is a bad idea, something struck me.

The writer stated, and I quote, “Or could we enjoy our freedom, mind our own business and appreciate a county government that generally leaves us alone unless we ask for help.”
