It’s hard to imagine today, but just over 100 years ago the coastal plains of America from Virginia to eastern Texas were covered by about 92 million acres of longleaf pines.

Fortunately, we have folks like Vernon Compton who care about preserving and restoring the 1.3 million acres left in northwest Florida and South Alabama.

Navarre’s girls soccer team took the first step toward a district championship with an 8-0 win over Crestview Wednesday night in a District 1-6A quarterfinal at Bennett C. Russell Stadium.

Seven different players scored for the Raiders in a mercy-rule win that ended with Natalie Busch punching in a goal in the 75th minute.

Your CBD Store in Navarre hosted a fun event Jan. 8 called Puppies in the Park(ing lot), where dogs from Road Dogg Rescue were up for adoption right outside of the store, and every adopted dog came with a discount for a CBD dog treat.

It was a great success, and seven out of the 10 dogs were adopted in the first hour.

Unfortunately, when this scenario occurs in a setting with native plants or a home landscape, the recovery is both costly and destructive. In many cases the intruder must be beaten back repeatedly.

My wife and I recently spent a morning running errands. We emerged from our neighborhood into a thick blanket of marine fog. Visibility on Navarre Parkway was less than a quarter of a mile.

The bridge to Navarre Beach arched into a misty uncertainty. Buildings and trees emerged from the mist as faint shadows and only gradually took on definition.
