Nearly a dozen Navarre athletes signed national letters of intent Wednesday afternoon during a signing day ceremony in the cafeteria.

Included in that group were a pair of NCAA Division I signees, Rachel Leggett (South Alabama) and Emma Simon (Alabama State).

Rising food and gas prices are a daily reminder that even though Florida’s economy is in a much better place than it was in March 2020, the economy is decidedly more expensive two years later in March 2022.

Garnering much attention, price increases have been rather pronounced in the housing market, where a perfect storm of demographic and economic forces propelled home prices higher over the past year.

Scrolling through Twitter late one evening ahead of my trip home for my father’s visitation and funeral, I came across a post I was tagged in by an athlete.

He posted a video of himself throwing a football to his dad in the backyard and mentioned me, stating that he would be dedicating his first touchdown of the 2022 high school football season to my dad.

The summer season is coming up quickly on Navarre Beach, locals and tourists alike will be flocking to the beach to enjoy the white sands and emerald green waters, but they won’t be the only ones.

Sea turtle nesting season will begin starting next month, May 1 to be exact, and will last until late October along Panhandle beaches.

Earth Day came early to the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge. Earth Day 2022 is April 22, and ECWR went all out Saturday, April 16 to showcase their animal ambassadors and teach folks of all ages the best way to live side by side with animals that inhabit our area.

New administrative position to oversee millions in school district funding

The position will be filled by Bobbie Lewter.

Just after 8 a.m. on a Friday morning, Navarre’s boys weightlifting team is hard at work, the focus all in on carving out a special place in school history.

Music blares over the speakers, the sound of weights clanking mixed in with it, the lifters encouraging and working with each other to make the most of this morning workout just days before the 3A state meet in Port St. Joe.

Navarre’s historic girls lacrosse season comes to a close

As Navarre’s girls lacrosse team walked off the field for the final time late Thursday night, there was, without question, pain from the sting of defeat, but that feeling was overwhelmed by the sense of pride the Raiders were feeling in the wake of how far they have come in 2022.

They played for a district championship for the first time in program history, facing area power Niceville for the title, and though the 13-4 loss here on a warm April evening at Eagle Stadium ended their season, they won’t let the loss define their season.
