5,000 gallons of sewage spilt in Gulf Breeze

The City of Gulf Breeze spent Wednesday, Jan. 5, cleaning up 5,000 gallons of sewage in the Tiger Point area on Circle Lane and West Avenue.

Following heavy rains early Wednesday morning, staff with the Gulf Breeze Regional Water System recognized a lack of water flow and heightened levels in a lift station leading to the water treatment plant. This caused water mixed with sewage to begin overfl owing from manholes.

People who live along Gulf Boulevard on Navarre Beach may have a new neighbor in the next few years.

Alvin’s Island, a beach-focused retailer and affiliate of Marco Destin, is making plans to build a location on Navarre Beach off Gulf Boulevard. The approximate location is directly in front of The Navarre Beach Regency Condominiums.

Alumni invited back for 70th Anniversary Celebration

Milton — Santa Rosa Medical Center (SRMC) is celebrating 70 years of providing healthcare services to Santa Rosa County and will host an alumni luncheon for past employees in mid-January.

“After seven decades, it’s amazing to know Santa Rosa Medical Center continues to provide the community with healthcare services they need – closer to home,” said Justin Serrano, interim chief executive officer. “We pride ourselves in being this community’s hospital and we want to celebrate this achievement with the people that have helped keep us going.”

Rudman opens Navarre’s first legislative office

At a ribbon cutting Friday, Jan. 6, state Representative Dr. Joel Rudman officially welcomed the public to his new legislative office.

According to the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, it is the first legislative office to open in Navarre. Rudman’s office is in Suite D of Fountain Professional Court.

The fact the office is the first of its kind is not lost on Rudman, who has been a resident of Navarre for the better part of two decades.

Season flying by for Raider girls soccer seniors

Selissa Bly remembers being a younger soccer player at Navarre and looking up to the seniors.

She’s now in that position, along with seven of her teammates, and they were recognized prior to the Raiders’ 4-0 win over Choctaw Tuesday night at Bennett C. Russell Stadium.
