Sheriff’s Office launches Star Foundation

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office recently announced the formation of a new nonprofit organization called the ‘Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Star Foundation,’ which will work to support the agency and charitable organizations throughout the county and first responder communities.

Mathews leads way for Raiders at Navarre Invitational

Connor Mathews watched former teammate and eventual state champion Bryce Eberhardt shatter records at the Navarre Invitational a year ago.

It is Wednesday evening and I realize that I have not written a column for the coming week. It seems I have a poor memory. Admittedly, I am getting older, and some forgetfulness is to be expected, but the forgetfulness that is troublesome to me has less to do with my age and more to do with my faith. I forget what God has done in the past, what he assures for the future, and his faithfulness in the present, and so I worry.

Navarre High School students built an electric car funded by Florida Power and Light. After two months of work, they were able to take it to Five Flags Speedway and test it. What a great project for our students.

Gulf Breeze wetlands trail boardwalk design wins award

The City of Gulf Breeze and architectural firm McKim & Creed have been recognized for their work on a walkway and boardwalk trail. The recognition came in the form of an award presented to the project team at the ACEC-FL awards banquet in Orlando in February. ACEC stands for the American Council of Engineering Companies.

The “Multi-Use Pathway Phase 1 and Wetlands Trail Boardwalk Project” secured an honor award in the Special Projects category. The plaque was presented to the City Council March 4.
