Occasionally I would look up from my work to watch its elevators climb the outside of the spire then disappear into its pod 1500 feet off the ground. NOAA awards contract for next-generation hurricane hunter aircraft

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced that it has awarded a contract to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, based in Georgia, for two specialized C-130J Hercules aircraft to become the next generation of NOAA hurricane hunter aircraft. According to a press release, the planes will be modified to serve as flying laboratories in support of NOAA’s hurricane and environmental research.

25 students named to Safety Patrol at Woodlawn Beach Middle School

There’s a new sheriff in town. Or rather, a group of new patrollers.

On Friday, Oct. 4, Woodlawn Beach Middle School welcomed its first class of AAA Safety Patrollers with a graduation ceremony. The ceremony featured the students’ official pinning as patrollers, a presentation by Safety Patrol sponsor Deputy Noel Sevilla, and a keynote address from Daniel Hahn, Santa Rosa District Schools’ director of safety.
