Hurlburt Field – Hurlburt Field cagers knocked down 16 free throws in the fourth quarter Jan. 10 to top Eglin 76-68 in men’s basketball action in Aderholt Fitness Center.
The Gulf Coast rivalry game tipped off a weekend tournament where four military squads clashed, including teams from Fort Knox, Kentucky, and Scott AFB, Illinois. My wife and I pray together most mornings before one of us leaves the house for our workday. Our prayer is always the same, “Lord, we are yours and this day is yours. We ask you to fill us with your Spirit and use us for your glory.” One day last week, having prayed with my wife and seen her out the door, a question popped into my mind: God, are you tired of hearing the same prayer from us day after day?

We are working on finishing up all three of our newspapers on Monday while wondering if the driver is going to be able to bring them to us from Jackson, Mississippi, on Tuesday evening like he normally does. We attempted to print earlier to get ahead of the storm, but the company that owns the press prioritizes their own papers first – of course – and no can do. They were really nice about it – but the facts are the facts. And we would do the same if we owned the printing press. There is a good chance you are reading this – at best on Thursday, but probably on Friday.

Five decades ago, Steve Janke was in a warzone. He had been sent to Vietnam and served during the middle portion of the war, from 1970 to 1971, at Cam Ranh Air Base.
Despite the fact Janke hasn’t been in a war in over 50 years, he is still does battle with the enemy. Only this time, its for his congregants’ souls. January 21, 2025, will be remembered for a historic snowfall total of 8″ shattering a 130-year-old record set in 1895. Winter Storm Enzo brought heavy snowfall across the Gulf Coast. The first forecast days before the event hinted at a 1″-3″ of snowfall, but as the storm moved closer the forecast totals increased to 2″-4″ and then up to 6″. After the final flake fell, Navarre was near 8″.
