Employers get reprieve on overtime pay law change

A Tuesday, Nov. 22 federal ruling by the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Texas, granted a preliminary injunction essentially putting the brakes on changes to overtime pay laws that would have gone into effect Dec. 1. Twenty-one states and other business groups had filed suit against the change.

Amtrak service close to becoming reality again

Amtrak passenger service is becoming a reality again along the Gulf Coast as support for the idea picks up steam.  Santa Rosa County is among the latest counties to provide a resolution of support to bring the popular rail service back to the region, along with Pensacola and Crestview.

We experimented with socialism and crony capitalism during the last 16 years and the results were not pretty. The globalist elite became wealthier and the average citizen became poorer. It is time to take our nation back! I pray, with God’s help we will move toward the country we used to be with opportunity for all. Through history all democracies have failed because the citizens discover they can vote themselves benefits. We in the USA have been in decline and we must reform our government. The professional politicians must go! The road to recovery will be difficult but doable with good leadership. We must come together and be prepared to sacrifice for the benefit of our country.

Safety pins?

What began with the Brexit in the UK last June has spilled over to America in the wake of the nation electing Donald Trump as president.  People are wearing safety pins to make a silent statement that the groups of people who feel threatened by the supposed hate and fear mongering of Trump and his supporters can feel “safe” around people wearing the pins.
