Navarre raises more than $10,000 for a wheelchair accessible vehicle

Nearly 300 people packed the parking lot of Palm Harbour Plaza Sunday afternoon in support of Elis Hines. The 22-year old was paralyzed nearly seven months ago in a skateboarding accident, leaving him in a wheelchair.

The Vine Wine Bar, Bistro & Shoppe hosted a Chili and Wings Cook-off Fundraiser Nov. 8 with all proceeds going toward buying Hines a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Salter leaves lasting legacy

For 20 years, District 3 County Commissioner Don Salter has been a force moving Santa Rosa County forward. Nov. 12 will be the last time he takes a seat at the Board of County Commissioners long table.

The swearing in of new commissioners midmonth will also mark the end of his fifth term as chairman of the board.
