It could have been a fold-up shop kind of night for the Navarre Raider baseball team.
The Raiders were in 5-0 hole after two innings against Escambia last Tuesday night, but rather than back down, they battled back in a home game against the Gators.
The United Methodist Church’s Alabama-West Florida Conference, which oversees most the Florida Panhandle and south Alabama, has regained control of a church property in Pensacola.
Navarre’s softball team walked off the field stinging from a heartbreaking defeat to reigning 6A state champion Pace last Tuesday night.
Yet, the Raiders also walked away from the 13-9, extra-inning loss with a bit of added confidence, the belief that they do have what it takes to compete with the best.
The 2025 Clover Pick A Bowl Fill A Bowl raised nearly $69,000 for Manna Food Bank thanks to the generosity of several local sponsors, artists, restaurants/food vendors, donors and event attendees. Subtract the opening quarter of Navarre’s girls lacrosse game against rival Gulf Breeze and the Raiders played the powerhouse Dolphins pretty tough Wednesday night.

Happy Birthday, Navarre! Last week was Navarre’s 100-year birthday according to county records and plat maps. The Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce held a birthday party last week complete with birthday cake and blowing out the candles. Thankfully there were only three candles, a 1, and two zeroes. I felt privileged to be able to blow out one of the zeroes. Cindy Davidson with Centennial Bank blew out the number 1 – which is very appropriate since the bank is Centennial, and we are celebrating 100 years. Her company also is a sponsor – also very appropriate. Frankie Gibbs, who has been working on the centennial for more than two years also blew out a zero. We have some exciting plans for the paper in the coming months leading up to the Gala on June 21. Can’t wait to hear when the tickets are going to be on sale. You will definitely see an announcement in Navarre Press.
