Navarre’s boys basketball team set out to lay a foundation this season, and in a lot of ways that was achieved.


The Raiders won nine games, five more than the previous season, and strides were made even if the win-loss record shows as 9-15.

Navarre’s girls basketball team is headed to the District 1-6A championship game on Friday night.

Colt Brauns buried a 3-pointer. Aaden Jackson coasted through the lane for a layup. And just like that Navarre’s boys basketball team had shaken off a tough start and seized the moment against Gulf Breeze in a District 1-6A quarterfinal Tuesday night.

Former Navarre Raider Calyn Rounsaville is heading into year two of her college softball career.


Rounsaville is coming off a solid freshman campaign where she eventually earned a spot in the starting lineup.

It’s almost time for the girls weightlifting state meets. The 3A schools compete are set to compete Feb. 11 while the 1A schools will compete Feb. 13.


Both competitions are at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland and will begin at 10 a.m. EST.

District championships in basketball will be on the line this week as area teams head into their respective tournaments.

Teams get rolling on Monday. Semifinals are Wednesday and championship games are Friday.

Noah Chin scored late in the fourth quarter, helping to put the finishing touches on Navarre’s 52-44 comeback win over Jay Friday night, his basket sending the student section that adores him into a frenzy.


Chin smiled. Sure, these past four years haven’t been easy. But on this night, he and his fellow Raiders had something to smile about, and it’s clear the direction of the program is trending up.

It’s almost time to hoop it up in the district tournament.
