Local officials warn that 2020 might bring one more challenge -- a solar storm that occurred on Dec. 7 and is predicted to potentially affect the area beginning late Wednesday, Dec. 9. Effects of the magnetic storm, including disrupted cell phone and radio communication, may continue into Friday.
According to NOAA, a geomagnetic storm watch is in effect from Dec. 9-11, due to effects from a Coronal Mass Ejection, which is associated with the solar storm that may affect earth.

Southern Specialty is a local Navarre boutique that sells a variety of wonderful items, ranging from Navarre Beach blankets that feature the latitude and longitude of Navarre Beach to Myra handbags, which are made from recycled military canvas and are remarkably fashionable.
Morton’s favorite part of her job is seeing a customer’s face light up when they find the perfect gift idea or trendy outfit that fits their style.

The newest addition to their fashionable inventory is Consuela, a stylish handbag and wallet line made in Austin, Texas. These accessories stand out with their colorful pattern and accent straps, as well as their sparkly interior lining.
The store also carries Melissa and Doug toys, which are educational toys targeted at early childhood development and play.
Some of the bestselling fashion lines include Katie Loxton of London’s jewelry and purse line and Z Supply clothing line.
This trendy store, located at 8223 Navarre Parkway, in Palm Harbor Plaza across from Publix in Navarre, is known for its personalized Navarre Beach décor, pillows and T-shirts that pinpoint the exact location of our beach town.
“Dumpster Diver” is a new brand of T-shirts they are selling made by 30A from recycled plastic. The plastic is shred into tiny pieces and spun into the fabric of the shirts that read “BEach HAPPY.”
This beachy boutique is also the only local carrier of the famous Pura Vida bracelets, bags and jewelry from Costa Rico.
A neat new addition to the store is Beekman, which is an all-natural skin care line of body creams, hand lotions, bar soaps and more made from goat milk.
The boutique also sells a lot of faith-based items, ranging from clothing with scripture on it to Revelation Culture, an inspiring wall décor company that features worship lyrics and Bible verses.
Southern Specialty even has items for men, despite the misconception that boutiques are only for ladies. They have gentleman gift sets and many kinds of masculine soaps and shaving supplies.
