Woman completes fastest time in Florida Trail history

At 26 years old, Doane recently completed the fastest supported known time in Florida National Scenic Trail history.

Woman’s Death Spurs ‘Safe Exchange” Proposal

(By Ryan Dailey) The Florida House is moving forward with a bill that would allow courts to require that parents who share custody of children use “safe exchange” locations at county sheriff’s offices.

The measure (HB 385) is named the “Cassie Carli law,” after a mother who in 2022 disappeared — and was later found dead — after meeting with the father of her child in Northwest Florida to make what is known as a timeshare exchange.

Woman attacks husband after falsely accusing him of sexual battery

A 38-year-old Navarre woman was arrested Dec. 6 for battery – domestic violence after attacking her husband. According to the woman’s arrest report from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Department, the woman called authorities to report that she was sexually battered by her husband. Authorities say the woman’s husband found out she was cheating on him, but the pair decided to try working on their relationship for the sake of their three children.

Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a church in Pace on May 11 to meet with a mother whose 16-year-old daughter had been secretly filmed in their bathroom at home. The woman met deputies at her church because she was afraid to return home without law enforcement since the suspect, 49-year-old John Joseph Sullivan III, had multiple guns in the house.

The girl had called her mom repeatedly after discovering Sullivan’s cell phone on and actively recording in a multi-tier storage bin while she was getting ready to take a shower in their home.

Woman bites herself, accuses boyfriend, during fight over liquor, cigarettes

A 26-year-old Navarre woman was charged with battery for her role in a June 20 fight with her live-in boyfriend. According to her Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the couple started fighting around noon when he decided she’d been drinking too much and took away her bottle of liquor. She responded by tackling him, biting him and scratching him. A few hours later, she snatched away his pack of cigarettes, the report said.

Milton man pleads guilty to murder of Destin businesswoman

In a first degree murder case, it’s rare for a defendant to plead guilty, according to Mark Alderman at the First Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office.
