Former Santa Rosa District Schools employee charged with larceny

After resigning from Santa Rosa District Schools last October, Kelly Short, 57, was arrested on larceny charges related to her time as director of the district’s Office of Professional Learning.

Short is accused of engaging in financial improprieties, which amounted to her allegedly stealing from the district over a two-year period. The arrest comes amidst a monthslong investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).

If you have driven over Navarre Beach Bridge at any point since November, you may have noticed an ongoing construction project at the causeway seawall.

According to assistant county engineer John Studstill, the project is an emergency repair to reinforce the seawall on the causeway.

Well, another Santa Rosa County Election with a disappointing result. On November 5th, voters rejected a 1/2 cent sales tax to be dedicated to infrastructure improvements in our county. One has to wonder how much longer this area’s roads and bridges can continue to be in a sorry state of repair and unable to carry area residents and visitors.
