Gulf Breeze man arrested for child pornography

Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) agents and officers from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the FBI arrested Gary David Goeke, 68, of Gulf Breeze on July 12. He was arrested for 30 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and one count of promotion of the sexual performance of a child.

Amazon submits plans for distribution center in East Milton

Site plans have been submitted to Santa Rosa County for an Amazon distribution center at the Santa Rosa County Industrial Park in East Milton off US 90. According to District 4 County Commissioner Dave Piech, the center will be just under 81,000 square feet and will be taking over a former call center.

“I think it’s awesome. It’s going to bring in some higher paying jobs from a higher paying company,” Piech said. “It doesn’t surprise me. We have a very talented work pool.”

Construction on Edgewood Drive begins

Santa Rosa County began construction on Edgewood Drive on Wed., June 22 after months of planning.

According to the County, the Edgewood Drive Construction project includes a new sidewalk and bike lanes along the full length of Edgewood Drive, a new right turn lane at Highway 98, clearing and cleaning existing ditches, and the replacement of drainage culverts. Edgewood Drive will also be resurfaced as part of the project.
