Over the weekend, Santa Rosa County announced that America Ave. suffered a washout. With the road compromised, Santa Rosa County officials closed the road until further notice. The closure is in between Ambassador Drive and Capitol Drive/Senate Court.

Pace swim coach Amy Wolfenden passed away Sunday while at a triathlon in Birmingham.


Wolfenden, a dean at Wallace Lake K-8 School, has been working in the Santa Rosa County School system since 2007 and has been coaching at Pace since 2013.

Betty J Pullum YMCA submitting plans for afterschool building

Navarre’s Betty J Pullum YMCA is planning to expand in the next few years. Plans for a new modular portable building were submitted April 25 to Santa Rosa County Development Services.

According to the architectural site plan, the new portable structure will be located on the northwest side of the main YMCA building.

Don’t sleep on severe weather

Some of you probably woke up last Friday, very surprised to learn that a tornado came right through Santa Rosa County and into Okaloosa County.

Many were left to pick up trees from their homes, out of roadways and to repair property damage following the EF-2 twister. The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado through its preliminary survey, estimating its peak winds at 115 miles per hour.

Sheriff’s Office holds annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office was joined by the community Monday, May 6, for a Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony to honor fallen officers across Florida. Held at the sheriff’s office administrative facility in East Milton, the agency honored three fallen Santa Rosa County officers and five other officers from various other agencies.

Keller Williams donates over $4k to Emerald Coast Exceptional Families for ‘Red Day’

On Thursday, May 9, Keller Williams Emerald Coast in Navarre presented a check for $4,800 to Emerald Coast Exceptional Families, a 501c3 nonprofit which provides support services to special needs families.

The money will go toward funding for the SAFE program, something ECEF started with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office in 2022. The SAFE program is meant to foster better communication between law enforcement agencies and the special needs community.
