Over $20K seized in case of Gulf Breeze doctor accused of overprescribing pills

The Gulf Breeze doctor accused of overprescribing pain medications to her patients is being taken to court.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is the plaintiff in a case before the circuit court of the First Judicial Circuit for Santa Rosa County. Dr. Elaine Sharp, the doctor in question, is the defendant. According to court records, two banks were identified as places Sharp commonly used to make deposits.

Arrest made in Jernigan murder

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Robert Patrick Jernigan, 53, of Milton, Thursday night in connection with the murder of Stephen Lee Jernigan.

Sheriff’s Office suspects foul play in Jernigan death

Stephen Lee Jernigan, 70 was found dead at his home in the 1800 block of Schnoor Road north of Chumuckla on Wednesday. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating. The Sheriff’s Office in a news release said detectives believe foul play was involved and that the death was not a random act; there is no threat to the general public.

Keep the bars off Hwy. 98

A revised draft of the Land Development Code is being considered by the Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners.

On page 348 of the 532-page document, two short sentences are about to throw open the doors to bars on Hwy 98 from Gulf Breeze to Navarre. Current code restricts bars from being within 2500 feet of schools or churches.

Warehouse, retail development coming to Tiger Point next year

Residents of Tiger Point will have new places to shop beginning in 2024. A new development, Tiger Point Place, is currently preleasing space in their future shopping plaza, which is next to Concord Presbyterian Church of Gulf Breeze on Gulf Breeze Parkway.

According to the Santa Rosa County development order for the project, Tiger Point Place will be a commercial strip center for retail and offices with warehouse space. The project consists of the construction of a 20,000 square foot multitenant retail building, a 30,000 square foot multitenant maxi-warehouse building and 118,000 square feet of asphalt parking, concrete sidewalk and associated infrastructure.
