Many people try to avoid appearing before a judge, but for the students in Navarre High School’s mock trial team it’s something they look forward to.

Mock trial is an extracurricular activity where students prepare to go to court with a fictional case and play on the side of either the prosecution or defense in each round of competition. The competition is mediated by a circuit court judge and is scored by accredited lawyers from the local area.

Navarre rolls past rival Gulf Breeze in flag football

Courtney Danforth raced down the field, turned, looked up and waited for the perfect pass from Madison Simmons to drop into her hands before snagging the ball in the corner of the end zone as Navarre extended its lead to 24 points.

“I kept running my route, went straight to the corner, and (Madison Simmons) threw it to me. It worked out perfectly,” Danforth said.

Arrest made in fatal Navarre shooting

An arrest has been made in the fatal weekend shooting that took place at the Cayo Grande apartment complex in Navarre.

Santa Rosa County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported shooting at the 7700 block of Navarre Parkway at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Deputies discovered the body of a dead male who had been shot.

Navarre First Assembly to hold annual missions event March 25

To help make future missions trips possible, Navarre First Assembly of God is hosting their annual mission banquet and fundraiser Saturday, March 25.

The banquet is not only an opportunity to raise money but to explore the cultures of the various congregants at Navarre First Assembly.
