Navarre man sentenced to 25 years in prison for lewd and lascivious behavior

A Navarre man will be spending the next 25 years behind bars and the rest of his life on sex offender probation after he was sentenced on Oct. 20. Michael Joseph Bouley, 66, was also designated as a sexual predator by Circuit Court Judge Darlene Dickey.

According to a press release from the Office of the State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding child molestation on Feb. 18, 2022.

Large crowd gathers to hear Navarre Town Center plan

On Thurs., Oct. 13, Preserve Navarre held a meeting, or rather a town hall, to discuss the Navarre Town Center project. There were around 110 people on hand for the town hall.

The Town Center project, which is being shepherded along by Bob Benaquis, owner of TC’s Front Porch, is a development which will extend from Presidio St. to Prado St. with the northern boundary of E Esplanade St. and a southern boundary of Highway 98.

Navarre Raider swim teams shine at county meet

Excitement, energy and races that went down to the wire. It was all bundled into one to set the stage for a highly competitive Santa Rosa County Meet last Thursday afternoon at the Pullum YMCA.

At the end of the meet, Navarre’s girls swim team stood tall as county champions, winning despite claiming first in only three events.

Clutch kick caps thrilling win for Navarre Raiders

Two big throws from Hunter Pfiester to Jadon Reese helped move the Navarre Raiders deep into Mosley territory, and now, with clock winding down, it was time for Taylor Gardner to take a shot at sealing the deal.

Navarre Slim Chickens set to open on Halloween

A new fast-casual restaurant that specializes in chicken is coming to Navarre and is set to open Oct. 31.

Slim Chickens is located at 8006 Navarre Parkway, right across from the Navarre Post Office.

According to their website, the Slim Chickens menu offers fresh cooked to order chicken tenders, wings, 17 different house sauces to try, wraps, chicken & waffles, a signature Cayenne Ranch chicken sandwich and fresh salads, authentic sides, iced teas (sweet, unsweet, raspberry, peach), lemonade. And it only takes a few minutes to get a fresh hot meal.

Navarre Beach Lifeguards, Fire Rescue member honored

On Sept. 21, Navarre Beach Fire Rescue Fire Chief Danny Fureigh honored several lifeguards and a member of Navarre Beach Fire Rescue at an awards ceremony.

Lifeguards Garrett Edwards, Daniel Walsh, Ryan Conner, and Austin Koenigseder were honored for helping save a diver in distress at the reef near Navarre Beach over the Summer. John Becker was recognized as a Lifeguard of the Year for the 2022 season. Cole Burton received recognition as the Most Improved Lifeguard of the Year for the 2022 season. Zack Miller was named Lifeguard Rookie of the Year for the 2022 season. The NBFR member who was honored was Patrick Wissing, who became a full time member of NBFR recently. Wissing is a firefighter/paramedic.

Navarre does its job in Homecoming win over Leon

With all the distractions and extra activity that comes with Homecoming week, Navarre’s football team stayed focused on the task at hand.

On a picture-perfect fall evening inside a Bennett C. Russell Stadium rocking with excitement, energy,  and cheering fans, the Raiders dominated all three phases of the game in a 38-7 win over Leon.
