Adversity takes its toll on a team, eroding its spirit and will to keep pushing forward, sometimes for only a game or two. Sometime the adversity has no end in sight.
Long before military deployments were the norm for families, during an operation called Desert Shield, Operation Desert Friends was taking Navarre’s deployed families by storm.
A Navarre restaurant, El Paso’s, located in Palm Tree Plaza on Navarre Parkway has been issued a temporary stop sale order by the Department of Business and Professional Regulations after an inspection of the business.
An event of potentially epic proportions for Navarre, Country on the Sound, fell short of the imagined goals set by event planner and owner of Navarre Water Sports, Greg Britton. But overall, he and others were pleased with how the first-year event turned out. “We couldn’t have asked for better talent or a better group of people to work with,” Britton said.
“The rains of Sept. 28 are an event that happens only once every hundred years,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Joe Maniscalco referring to the amount of rain that fell within a six-hour period. “It was torrential.”
Building a football program from scratch is a long process, but University of West Florida football coach Pete Shinnick is pleased with how far his team has come in a short period of time.
Hurlburt Field, Fla. — The 1st Special Operations Security Forces Squadron military working dog section hosted the 2015 Emerald Coast K-9 Clash, Sept. 4-5. During the two-day competition, participants were judged on tactical obedience, building search techniques, scouting and controlled aggression to see who the overall team winner was. Thirteen MWD teams participated from five Air Force Bases and two local police departments.
