Private school’s rezoning request gets preliminary approval

Last week, the Santa Rosa County Zoning Board unanimously approved rezoning land to make way for a 20-acre campus for Gulf Point Academy. The rezoning of the 7600 Block of East Bay Boulevard from R1 (Single Family Residential) to PBD (Planned Business District) advances Gulf Point Academy, a private Christian school, toward final plans to relocate and expand operations in Navarre.

Keeping a protective watch for nesting sea turtles and birds, Weeks Marine Inc. is replenishing Navarre Beach with more than one million cubic yards of dredged sand in hopes of finishing by the holiday weekend of July Fourth.

Like father, like son

The father and son duo, Marvan Darby Sr. and Jr. have a long-standing history of arrests in Santa Rosa County.  The two most recently were accused of stealing a lawnmower and weed eater out of garage on Segura Street, around the corner from where they live on Andorra Street.
