District continues to grow, add campuses

As the year inches toward its close, the Santa Rosa County School District has checked a number of boxes to provide for future growth.

In 12 months, the district has opened one new school – East Bay K-8 – and has a second K-8 under construction in the north end of the county.

Midway Fire hosts reverse Christmas parade

Midway Fire District (MFD) held its very own reverse Christmas parade on Dec. 14 at Tiger Point Park in Gulf Breeze. The “parade” consisted of multiple stations with firemen and Santa Claus himself handing out festive treats like cookies, candy canes and hot chocolate to attendees who remained in their vehicles.

You can drive your self crazy seeking redemption. Emily Madril never got to that point. And now she’s a national champion.

Let it be known that the former Navarre soccer standout wanted redemption more than anything else in the world after the way last season ended. Florida State’s women’s soccer team lost in a penalty kick shootout to Santa Clara. Madril missed one of those kicks.

For the second year, the Hale family of Navarre displayed their 10-foot Christmas wreath in their driveway. Locals and tourists alike enjoyed stopping by the Homeport Drive home to take a family photo.
