Around five years ago, Angela Zangerle, a Navarre resident, was taking a tour of Santa Rosa Kids House, a nonprofit which provides services such as counseling, as well as shelter, for children who’ve been abused. The nonprofit has helped thousands of children, according to its website.
When you hear the word ‘beach,’ what do you think of?

A school board candidate in Santa Rosa County has been caught up in controversy following a visit to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 25. Jennifer Tapley, a candidate for Santa Rosa school board district 2, along with Tom Gurski, went to the Sheriff’s Office with a complaint about Jay High school’s librarian after a student checked out a book Tapley considered to be “pornographic.”
In November, John Poates with JD Restaurant Group became the new owner of Scooter’s Fish House. Poates is excited for the opportunity and plans to keep a lot of the restaurant the same.
“I’ve got happy people, why would I change that?” Poates said. “… Scooter’s is always going to be Scooter’s.”
John and Jenny Stanberry fell in love with the Emerald Coast while vacationing here. They got married on Navarre Beach and have been trying to move here ever since. In 2020, they moved here and started Beach Town Plumbers, selling their plumbing business they created in Indianna, but keeping 25-plus years of experience.
