Coastline Calvary gala shines light on Christian education

There have been a number of Christian-centered religious schools that have opened in Santa Rosa County in the past decade.

LEAD Academy, located in Chumuckla, will be celebrating 10 years as a school this year. Since that time, Gulf Pointe Latin School in Navarre has opened, as has Coastline Christian Academy in Oriole Beach.

Averie Prochazka stood near the top of the 3-point line and decided to just shoot the ball. She’s not one of the players typically filling up the stat sheet, but on this night, the senior role player took charge.

Prochazka launched the ball up from beyond the arc and sent it swishing through the net early in the first quarter Thursday night.

Set Free Refuge hosts gala to celebrate one year of healing

Set Free Refuge is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its transitional home for young women ages 18 to 24 who are survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Called The Refuge, the home provides a one-year program that helps young women find healing by providing a community of love and support to develop the necessary skills to live on their own. It opened Feb. 11, 2022.

NYSA outgrowing facilities, asks community to help

Navarre is rapidly outgrowing its youth sports association. Participation in NYSA programs more than doubled between 2020 and 2022, straining the all-volunteer nonprofit corporation’s resources and limiting opportunities for the community’s children.
