Navarre Chamber’s Annual Health & Business Expo is this Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon at Navarre High School. The theme of this year’s Expo is “Showcasing the Heartbeat of Navarre.” There will be free health screenings with interactive booths and activities from local health care providers and local businesses, included Navarre Press. We will be writing prescriptions for “Acluism.” Of course, a subscription to Navarre Press is the right prescription for that dreaded disease. There has been a new feature added this year. ‘He’s a biggun’

Alligator hunting season in Florida began Aug. 15 at midnight. Within just a few hours, what will likely be one of the biggest gators of the season was caught on the Yellow River in Santa Rosa County.

If you walk into your child’s school, there is a chance you might hear they belong to a “house” or have received a “feather.” Don’t be alarmed. They are partaking in their school’s PBIS program.
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support. Around half of Santa Rosa County public schools participate in the state program, which centers on creating a healthy learning environment for all through promotion of positive behavior and other behavior management techniques.

Nearly 300 pythons caught in 2025 during Florida Python Challenge

This July, state officials, hunters and curious citizens made their way to the Florida Ever-glades to remove invasive pythons from the region.
The 2025 Florida Python Challenge, in its 12th year, took place over 10 days and tasked par-ticipants with removing as many members of the invasive species as they could. Winners were determined by how many pythons were removed and their size.

Ortega Street light coming this month

The long wait for the traffic signal at Ortega Street and Highway 98 is over.

Since the second week of August, crews have been working to install a traffic signal at the crowded intersection.

Regarding our distribution opening, we are still fielding candidates. Thank you for all that have responded. My brother responded, saying that I was a comedian. He also said I made the job look too hard. So, according to my brother – the job is a walk in the park, a piece of cake. Two days on every week and then a five-day unpaid vacation.
