Tournament to raise funds, awareness for teen suicide prevention

When the Angels in the Outfield coed softball tournament takes place in April, it will be about more than just a game.

The tourney, scheduled to take place the weekend of April 8 at Tiger Point, is being done to not only honor students who have died by suicide in the area in recent years but to raise awareness and funds as well.

A recipe for success

At a Feb. 21 Sunday mass, the St. Sylvester’s chapter of the Columbiettes presented a $2,500 donation to the Pregnancy Resource Center of Navarre (PRCN).

The funds were raised from the sale of a church cookbook. Chapter president, Angela Edwards and Financial Secretary, Ann Teston, presented the check to PRCN Executive Director Betsy Bower and Ellen Stanley, director of client services.
