Jay Weaver’s time on this earth came to a close Jan. 2. He was 42 years young.

He played the bass in contemporary Christian band Big Daddy Weave and his family says they know exactly where he is now. After over two decades on a medical roller coaster, Jay continued to trust in the Lord.

New school leaders appointed in south end of county

Santa Rosa County School District has a few new leaders, ready to serve the students, the staff and the community.

“This is the most important job that I believe I as a superintendent have is to identify, recruit and retain great leaders for our school district,” Barber said. “And these leaders are going to help our employees, our teacher, our students to be successful, and so it just brings great pleasure to me.”

It’s district tournament time for Raider soccer teams

Navarre’s girls soccer team didn’t play its final two games of the regular season due to the colder weather that moved into the area last week, but the Raiders are anything but cold heading into the District 1-6A tournament.

Navarre (13-5-1) has won 10 of its last 12 games, including four in a row, and it wrapped up the regular season last Wednesday with a 7-1 win over Pensacola.
