Democratic Protest Halts Redistricting Debate

A Florida House debate about congressional redistricting was suspended mid-day Thursday as a group of House Democrats protested a plan by Gov. Ron DeSantis that would cut the number of Black-held districts.

Democratic members chanted, “Stop the Black attack,” and sang, “We Shall Overcome,” with some sitting on a state seal at the front of the House chamber.

Santa Rosa County has announced the much-anticipated ribbon cutting of Navarre Park. The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. on Sat., Apr. 30 at Navarre Park, 8543 Navarre Parkway. Santa Rosa County began redeveloping the existing Navarre Park in October 2020 to create a top-notch recreational experience for all ages and abilities.

FDOT, partners look to build next generation of workers with Construction Career Days

On April 26 and 27, Santa Rosa County Fairgrounds will host the Northwest Florida Construction Career Days.

The event will bring around 900 high school students from Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa County over the two days to give them a look at career opportunities in the transportation and construction industries.

This past week my husband and I drove to Fort Worth, Texas to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.

Garnering much attention, price increases have been rather pronounced in the housing market, where a perfect storm of demographic and economic forces propelled home prices higher over the past year.

Scrolling through Twitter late one evening ahead of my trip home for my father’s visitation and funeral, I came across a post I was tagged in by an athlete.

He posted a video of himself throwing a football to his dad in the backyard and mentioned me, stating that he would be dedicating his first touchdown of the 2022 high school football season to my dad.
