Out and About

One of the things in life that is certain is change. Time brings about healing, distance from what it was we were fired up about and a willingness to look to a better future.

Not all change is good – and change for the sake of change is not good. But last week, Navarre got to experience change for the better. Two chambers – once a source of dividing our community – have come together as one. It was something that required the right people and the right time.

Chambers Unite

It was a great day for Navarre businesses on Friday, Feb. 17, at the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce awards and installation breakfast.

After a year of hard work behind the scenes, the two chambers became one again.

Tony Carter: ‘Greatness is the goal’

Tony Carter made his way down the outside walkway of Navarre High school on a Wednesday afternoon in late February.

Only this time, instead of meeting with a reporter to talk football or even what’s ahead with track season, the long-time Raider assistant is here to talk about the new opportunity in front of him.

New HNFD firetruck provides wider fire response capabilities

Holley Navarre Fire District is home to a new 70,000-pound ladder truck. The new vehicle arrived in late January.

With the new 60-foot-long truck, HNFD hopes to be able to respond to a wider range of emergencies with all the necessary tools. According to Fire Chief Kevin Lewis, the truck carries 425 gallons of water and will carry roughly 1,400 feet of fire hose.

Governor announcements make planning difficult

There’s something that has bothered me about the way Gov. Ron DeSantis does business since he took office in early 2019 and it has nothing to do with his politics.

I’ve been covering the news in Northwest Florida for close to 20 years now at different publications.

‘We have a lot of talent on this team’

Jason Kisor is no stranger to the game of flag football. He’s played the game for two decades and has even officiated games.

Now he’s the new head coach of the Raider program and ready to guide this team to a successful 2023 campaign.

Brian Out Loud

A new name. A new school. The same story.

You want more than anything for the cycle of young people dying by suicide to end. There just doesn’t seem to be an end in sight.
