The Vine Wine Bar, Bistro and Shoppe has welcomed a new chef to the family – Carlos Alfonzo. He brings with him new recipes he’s excited to share with Navarre.
Carlos Alfonzo found his culinary passion at a young age growing up in Caracas, Venezuela, by helping his grandmother in the kitchen. Moving to the United States at the age of 11, he spent most of his teenage years in Miami until he joined the U.S. Navy in 2003.
Friends, family and supporters of Cassie Carli gathered at Windjammers on the Pier on Navarre Beach Thursday, Feb. 23, for the announcement of House Bill 1031, which seeks to address custody exchanges in Florida. State Rep. Dr. Joel Rudman is the sponsor of the bill in the House, state Sen. Lauren Book, a Democrat, is the co-sponsor in the Senate.
In March 2022, Carli, a Navarre mother, went to do a custody exchange with her ex-boyfriend in a dimly lit parking lot near Juana’s boat ramp and disappeared. After a week of searching and investigating, law enforcement found her body in a barn in Springville, Alabama.
The Santa Rosa County Commission on Thursday proclaimed its appreciation for 11 Leonardo Helicopters and Leonardo DRS employees who pulled a pilot from a crashed private plane at Peter Prince Airport on Monday, Feb. 6.

One of the things in life that is certain is change. Time brings about healing, distance from what it was we were fired up about and a willingness to look to a better future.
Not all change is good – and change for the sake of change is not good. But last week, Navarre got to experience change for the better. Two chambers – once a source of dividing our community – have come together as one. It was something that required the right people and the right time.
Tony Carter made his way down the outside walkway of Navarre High school on a Wednesday afternoon in late February.
Only this time, instead of meeting with a reporter to talk football or even what’s ahead with track season, the long-time Raider assistant is here to talk about the new opportunity in front of him.
