I just returned from an enjoyable trip to Italy. I was struck by the lack of homeless people and beggars as compared to our country. I did encounter a few homeless people but not like it is here at home. The opposite used to be true.

Tommy’s Sno Balls in Navarre is about to get a new neighbor.

On Oct. 18, Santa Rosa County Development Services approved a development order for a new hotel on the southside of Highway 98, just east of the foot of the Navarre Beach Causeway. The new hotel, which is a Residence Inn by Marriott, will be four stories tall, 88,110 square feet and have approximately 105 rooms, according to current plans. The address is 8600 Navarre Parkway.

Holley Navarre Primary’s Whitman ‘STEAM’ driven

For Stephanie Whitman, being a teacher is a team effort. From students working with teachers to teachers working with other teachers to provide the best education possible, collaboration is key.

Whitman, who teaches first grade at Holley Navarre Primary School, was recently named her school’s teacher of the year. It is the first time she has been given the honor.

Taylor has been a constant on defense for Raider girls soccer team

Daysha Taylor had already played in 33 varsity games heading into her senior year with Navarre’s girls soccer team.

She’s on track to play in the most games in program history at the varsity level, but the funny thing is she doesn’t even realize she’s become sort of the iron girl of high school soccer.

Marshfield, WI – Nov. 17 – Nelson-Jameson, a leading food processing distributor, has announced the winners of its first Dairy Art Calendar Contest, including Navarre, artist Kathleen Webb. Nelson-Jameson opened this year’s contest in June, in honor of National Dairy Month, and contest participants submitted original artwork or photos that represent and celebrate dairy.

Lawson looking forward to soccer future at Pensacola State

For Kaitlyn Lawson, the chance to play close to home and play for a Pensacola State program that is on the rise is something the Navarre Raider soccer standout is looking forward to a great deal.

She signed her national letter of intent with the Pirates earlier this month and feels like it’s going to be a great fit.
