Court orders justification for FPL rates

The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday said state regulators did not adequately justify approval of a settlement that increased base electric rates for Florida Power & Light and ordered a new explanation.

Justices, in a 4-2 opinion, sent a battle about the settlement back to the Florida Public Service Commission, saying regulators in a 2021 decision did not meet a legal requirement of showing why the agreement “is in the public interest and results in rates that are fair, just and reasonable.”

FEMA, FCC plan nationwide emergency alert test for Oct. 4.

FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) at 1:20 p.m. (central time) Wednesday, Oct. 4.

The national test will consist of two portions, testing WEA and EAS capabilities. Both tests are scheduled to begin at approximately 1:20 p.m. CT/2:20 p.m. ET Wednesday, Oct. 4.

This coastal bird is identifiable by its large, pouched bill, brownish-gray feathers, rich chestnut hind neck, yellow crown and throat.

Yes, playing well matters, and it’s clear Gross is a difference maker at the net, but the fact that she’s playing at all is what matters most.

Navarre High to host improv showcase Sept. 29

On Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m., Navarre High School’s theatre program will host an improv showcase entitled “Mission: Improv-ible,” which is also the name of the improv troupe putting on the showcase.
