I went to the AMC Theater on W Street in Pensacola last weekend to see “The Boys in the Boat.” It was a Friday night, which is usually a popular “date” night. However, when we arrived, there were only a few others in the theater. The movie, directed by George Clooney, was well worth seeing, but there were only about eight of us in the movie theater by the time the movie started. When we exited at 8:45ish p.m., the concession stand was closed, and it was like a ghost town.

Working without contract since October, Santa Rosa teachers still at negotiating table with district

Santa Rosa Professional Educators (SRPE), the union representing teachers and other instructional staff in Santa Rosa County schools, has been at the negotiating table with Santa Rosa District Schools for the past five and a half months trying to agree to terms for a contract for the 2023-24 school year.

The two sides have been through eight negotiation sessions with no end in sight. One of the most recent sessions was held Jan. 18.

Tyrell Marshall looking forward to football future at UWF

Tyrell Marshall won’t be going too far from home to play college football, choosing to play for the University of West Florida.

Santa Rosa All County Band hits right note in Pace

The sound of rain couldn’t drown out the sound of Santa Rosa’s All County Band Saturday, Jan. 27.

In spite of the gloomy weather, parents, school district employees and the community packed Pace Assembly of God to hear both middle school and high school students perform a variety of tunes from classics such as the Wizard of Oz and Star Wars to more recent compositions such as Tarantella by Carol Brittin Chambers.
