Walton pitches site for medical examiner’s facility

Three months ago, the District One Medical Examiner’s Office Board of Directors – DOMES – was focused on buying property in Milton for its new facility. Last week, the number of potential sites blossomed to four.

“Up until July, the board’s consensus was (that the new building would be in) Santa Rosa County,” DOMES Chief Executive Officer Dan Shebler said Sept. 28 at a special facilities meeting. “Walton County has offered us free land in one of its industrial parks; that makes four potential sites.”

Decision could end lawsuit over Navarre Beach RV park

The Santa Rosa County Commission is scheduled to hear a request this morning that, if approved, would allow an RV park on Navarre Beach and, possibly, end a lawsuit against the county.

“I’m going to recommend, if the commission is inclined to grant the lease amendment, that it be conditioned on the plaintiff ending litigation,” County Attorney Tom Dannheisser told Navarre Press on Thursday, Sept. 15. “It all depends on how it plays out at the meeting.”
