Animal Shelter dog adoptions closed until Oct. 7

Santa Rosa County Animal Services dog adoption operations remain closed at the shelter facility until Mon., Oct. 7 due to a bacterial illness called Mycoplasma cynos. SRCAS shelter and medical staff are treating the affected dogs and hope to be clear for regular adoption operations next week. Cat adoptions remain open.

I saw a Facebook post a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday morning that caught my attention. It was on one of the Milton pages and featured photos of several players doing yard work just hours after they walked off the field at Bennett C. Russell Stadium in Navarre. They were holding rakes, working and smiling.

With 13 seconds to play and a Navarre victory over Tate basically a done deal, the Raiders shook hands with the Aggies as they waited to take a knee and run the clock out.


They then ran off the field smiling, jumping and cheering. Head coach Garrett Bagley found his wife and gave her a hug and kiss. Cooper Black and Vinny Villanova showed off their flipping skills on the visiting sideline.

BISSELL Pet Foundation fall national “Empty the Shelters” event begins October 1

With animal shelters across the nation facing an overcrowding crisis, thousands of highly adoptable pets are waiting for their second chances. Santa Rosa County Animal Services (SRCAS) is proud to partner with BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness, for its Fall National “Empty the Shelters.” From October 1 – 15, BISSELL Pet Foundation will sponsor reduced adoption fees of $50 or less at more than 390 shelters in 44 states.
