Sweet Pea celebrates ‘gotcha day’

On Jan. 18, 2018, the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Center was chosen to be the forever home of a sea turtle survivor. Coming to the center at just 16 lbs., Sweet Pea, a juvenile green sea turtle, had survived being tangled in fishing gear, which damaged her arm and paralyzed a back flipper. Some of the fishing gear was found inside her body as well.

WoodStoke Pottery and Kiln Festival on the calendar

The Gulf Coast Kiln Walk Society, Inc. will be hosting the 20th Annual WoodStoke Pottery and Kiln Festival on Saturday, Feb. 8, starting at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  A historical wood-fueled kiln will be unloaded during the festival. This event will be held at the Kiln Walk site at 7507 Buckeye Drive in Holley.

Navarre earns runner-up finish at district weightlifting meet

Runner-up isn’t bad at all when one considers Navarre was in a District 1-3A girls weightlifting meet on Saturday that featured back-to-back state champion Pace.


The Raiders placed second in Olympic and traditional in the highly competitive meet at Pace as the road to state began. Double champions Izzy Zach and Olivia Hall led the way.
