“It’s awesome,” said Santa Rosa County Supervisor of Elections Tappie Villane of voter turnout for the Nov. 4 general election primary, which was dominated by Republican voters who showed an expected outpouring of support for the Grand Old Party.
Once again Santa Rosa County voters have opposed the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners’ effort to enact a local option sales tax (LOST) to fund construction of a new judicial facility to replace the aging county courthouse, which was originally built in 1927.
In a debate that divided Navarre for months, voters Tuesday night showed their lack of support for the possible incorporation of Navarre, with nearly 6,000 people voting no in the straw poll. The unofficial vote was 5,993-4,765 against continuing the study of incorporation.

In the last five years, tuition at the University of Florida increased by more than 44 percent. Across the state, 30 hours at UF costs an in-state student $6,312.90, while Florida State University costs $6,506 and the University of South Florida costs $6,409.70. That’s a $2,000 increase from five years ago.
